Floods In Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki city faced severe floods after an intense weather phenomenon, a heavy rain, the 3rd strongest rain since 1980. The roads were covered in some places with 50cm of water, basements also had incoming water, the electricity was cut and traffic stopped. The roads vertical to the sea roads converted to water streams. Also in the city's landmark, the White Tower 80 people were trapped inside as the gate was flooded, so firefighters cut open the metal barriers and took out the people from the window. 10 May 2018 (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
