Simonopetra Monastery or Monastery of Simonos Petra is an Orthodox Monastery located in the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. It was founded in the 13th century and was rebuild many times after disasters as fire. The monastery is dedicated to Nativity of Jesus. It is one of the most picturesque monasteries in Agion Oros as it stands on a steep rock 330meters over the sea. Entrance to women is forbidden in Mount Athos. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
