Morandi bridge in Rome

After the collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa, alarms on infrastructure in Italy are multiplying. In addition to having built the collapsed Genoa bridge, the Roman engineer Riccardo Morandi (who died in 1989 at the age of 87) has also designed a bridge in the capital. It is a curvilinear suspended viaduct that runs along the Tiber at the Magliana district, covered every day by all those who come or travel to Fiumicino. Although considerably smaller in size, the Morandi bridge in Rome is reminiscent of the Genoa one as regards both the materials and the structural solutions adopted, Rome, Italy, 17 august 2018 (Photo by Silvia Lore/NurPhoto)
