Traditional Kushti Wrestling in India
Kusthi, the traditional Indian martial art of wrestling in Agra, India. Young participants are training every morning in the Akhara, the wrestling school. Wrestlers dedicate their life to this sport as they follow a very strict life with specific nutrition, a few sleeping hours, abstention of alcohol drinks or smoke and they stay away from relationships with women as long as they practice. The wrestlers do lot of hard work such as building or preparing the Akhara and then they cook from scratch their own food. Children usually practice early morning and after the exercise they attend school. This form of wrestling is a Persian descent that was developed during the Mughal Era. There are official games all over India. Sometimes Kusthi is refereed as Pehlwani. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
