Shiite Muslim Mourners Detained In Kashmir
Indian policemen beat and detain Kashmiri Shiite Muslim mourners as they try to take part in a Muharram procession in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir. Indian authorities imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar over the taking out of Muharram processions in and out the city center, dozens of Shiite Muslim mourners were detained by Indian police as they tried to take part in the procession during the eight day of Ashura of Muharram, Muslims mourn the slaying of the Prophet Mohammed's grandson Imam Hussain, who was martyred along with his 72 companions in Karbala the city of Iraq in 680 AD.
