Kashmiri men beat walnuts to break open their green husks and reveal their fissured walnut shells on, September 18, 2018 in Pulwom, 40 km (24 miles) south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian controlled Kashmir, India. Jammu and Kashmir annually produces over two lakh metric tonnes of walnuts, contributing to 80 percent of the total walnut production in India. The walnuts which are grown organically and whose kernel is considered to be among the worlds best are exported to several countries including France, Netherlands, UK, Germany and Middle East.
