Giant's Tank in Mannar, Sri Lanka. The ancient Giant's Tank (Yodha Wewa in Sinhalese) is a large water irrigation tank that contains an Artificial lake. It is believed to have been built by King Dhatusena (459-477) and was later restored in the 1880s. The tank now covers over 4550 hectares ( 45.5 sq. km) and capable of carrying 31,500 acre feet ( 39 Mn cubic meters) of water. It supplies water to what is known as the 'rice bowl' of Sri Lanka.
