Protest For The Release Of Jailed Pro-Kurdish Politician Selahattin Demirtas In Ankara

Deputy of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Filiz Kerestecioglu speaks during a protest calling for the release of her party's former co-leader Selahattin Demirtas in Ankara, Turkey on November 23, 2018. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) urged Turkey on November 20 to release Demirtas who has been held for two years on terror charges as the call was immediately rejected by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. President Erdogan added on November 21 that the ECHR's ruling on Demirtas amounted to support of terrorism. On the other hand, Turkey and the European Union held a High Level Political Dialogue meeting on November 22, after a year and a half of break as a sign of progress in dialogue efforts.
