After lots of opposition and criticism, the Indian rainbow flag came out of the closet. The Indian LGBTQ (lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, queen )community have been fighting a long drawn battle against a colonial-era law and supreme court of India granted them basic human rights on this verdict on September 6, 2018 (377 section) by the Indian penal code. LGBTQ people in India face legal and social difficulties not experienced by non-LGBT persons. Sexual activity between the same gender is legal but same-sex couples cannot legally marry.
