Tourism In Famagusta, Cyprus
On 24 April 2019, the ruins of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church stand in the historic port city of Famagusta, also known as Gazimagusa, on the east coast of Cyprus. The city, which is now in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, has several popular tourism attractions including Venetian fortress walls, a historic Gothic cathedral and many ruined churches, along with Mediterranean beaches and the ghost town of Palm Beach, which was a popular vacation resort before it was abandoned and closed to civilian access following the 1974 occupation of Northern Cyprus by Turkish forces.
