Buffer Zone In Nicosia And Famagusta

On 24 April 2019, tourists sit on Palm Beach in Famagusta, also known as Gazimagusa, in Northern Cyprus, near a military separation line that blocks public access to Varosha, or Maras, once a popular vacation and beach resort, which has been abandoned since Cyprus was divided by a United Nations buffer zone when conflict broke out in 1974 between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
