Assyrian Lamassu In London
Sculpture of an ancient Assyrian Lamassu, a mythological protective creature, the Winged Bull with the head of a man, on London Trafalgar Square 4th Plinth in 2018. The sculpture was made by the American artist Michael Rakowitz called "The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist" and is a reconstruction of an ancient statue destroyed by ISIS in Nineveh - modern Mosul, Iraq in 2015. The installation is made from more than 10000 recycled cans of date syrup, a product that Iraq exports. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
