Archaeo-paleontological Site Of Pilauco

Osorno, Chile. 15 may 2019. In February 1986, the existence of the first paleontological remains of the site, corresponding to the remains of a prehistoric animal, was reported; They were found while digging to build a new housing complex in the sector called Pilauco, on the banks of the Damas River in the city of Osorno. The first pieces found corresponded specifically to a jaw with part of its molars, a vertebra, a rib and unidentified pieces of a gonfoterio.Researchers from the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Austral University of Chile (UACH), discovered a human footprint of 15,600 years ago in this archaeo-paleontological site.The footprint was discovered in 2011, on the side of a house, and after an arduous investigation the scientists managed to determine that the human footprint dates from 15,600 years ago. The research was recently published by the prestigious scientific journal Plos One, this imprint was cataloged as the oldest human vestige discovered in all of America.
