Sri Lanka Civil War
The massive swimming pool which was used to train divers of the LTTE Sea Tigers to launch deep sea suicide attacks against the Sri Lankan navy during the 26-year long civil war between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) is displayed in an area controlled by the Sri Lankan Army in Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka. This giant swimming pool was constructed in 2001 and measures 83 feet in length and 22 feet in depth. There are 2 pathways to the bottom of the pool where a person could observe diving activities at the bottom through glass window. The Sea Tigers were the naval wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam during the Sri Lankan Civil War. (Photo by Creative Touch Imaging Ltd./NurPhoto)
