Maha Shivratri celebrated in Kolkata, India
Indian Hindu devotees of Lord Shiva during a religious procession to mark the Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri in Kolkata on February 17, 2015. Maha Shivratri is one of the biggest festivals of the Hindus, Shivratri or night of Lord Shiva is marked as the god performing the "Tandava Nritya" ( a vigorous dance) or the dance of primordial creation, preservation and destruction. The occasion, considered especially auspicious for women, they fast throughout the day and throng Shiva temples to offer leaves of woodapple tree (bel), wood apples, fruits and flowers and a lamp (diya) in Kolkata, India.
