Palermo Pride 2019

On June 28, 2019 in Palermo the Pride was celebrated. On the streets of the city many people took part in the tenth edition of the Pride in Palermo, coinciding with the day in which the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall riots is celebrated. On the night of June 28, 1969, a group of homosexuals, transsexuals, transvestites, men and women who frequented the Stonewall Inn pub in New York strongly rebelled against oppressive police policies and their collusion with organized crime. The colorful and festive demonstration was the pretext for the communist, anti-fascist and partisan movements of Palermo to challenge the policy of the Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and his strategy to stop illegal immigration starting from NGOs.
