Historic Heat Wave Day In Paris

In the foreground are the powerful water jets of the Fontaine du Trocadéro, under which Parisians cool off with the Eiffel Tower in the background, while Paris and France as a whole have been going through their second heat wave since the beginning of summer. This day, 25 July 2019, has become historic, beating the heat record set in the capital in 1947 with the new temperature of 42.6°C. Faced with the stifling heat of the city, many Parisians and tourists refreshed themselves at the Trocadero fountain where they could swim and relax in the cool. (Photo by Samuel Boivin/NurPhoto)
