Toddy Tapping In Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan worker Donald Perera pours toddy from his pot after collecting sap from a coconut tree in Wadduwa, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Colombo, on August 20, 2019. Toddy is a local alcoholic drink made by fermenting the sap of the coconut’s flower. The traditional toddy industry is gradually becoming an endangered industry due to the rapid increase of illegal and artificial toddy manufacturers, who aid and abate the moonshine business by producing cheap, artificial toddy, unfit for human consumption.
