Papuan students fly the Bintang Kejora flag (the West Papua Flag) outside the Presidential Palace during the demonstration in Jakarta on Thursday, August 22, 2019. The demonstration was held following a demonstration that ended in riots in Manokwari, Papua province this week after alleged acts of mistreatment and racist speech against Papuan students in Malang and Surabaya, East Java provinces on August 15-16. At present the Indonesian government has blocked internet networks in the province of Papua to prevent the spread of provocative content that can worsen the situation.
