Kuda Lumping, Mystical Dance From Java

A performer becomes possessed in a traditional art performance known as Kuda Lumping in Ungaran, Central Java, Indonesia on August 25, 2019. Kuda Lumping is a traditional Indonesian dance which originated on Java Island. The dancers ride horses made from woven bamboo and decorated with colorful paints and cloth. When the possessed dancer is performing the dance in trance conditions, he can display unusual abilities, such as eating glass and resistance to the effects of whipping or hot coals.The dancers are believed to become possessed by magical powers and supernatural spirits during the performance.
