Munzur Mountains In Turkey Declared As Mining Site
In Tunceli (Dersim), Turkey, a province in the upper Euphrates River Valley, there are 145 ongoing or planned mining projects. In July 2019, the entire area of the Munzur Mountains have been declared as mining site. The area around the mountsins is referred to as one of the cleanest natural water springs on earth. The mining site is 60 kilometers long and includes several villages and the projects will negatively affect the lives of the residents since most people benefit from the natural resources.Animal husbandry is one of the major income sources for the residents.
