Malaysia's indigenous tribe of Mah Meri celebrate New Year
Indigenous Mah Meri dancer arrived in traditional costume with dance mask 'Bajus' for Hari Moyang (Ancestors Day) celebration at Sungai Bumbon village, Pulau Carey, Malaysia 20 March 2015. Hari Moyang is celebrated annually by Mah Meri to bless and remember their ancestors with offerings of food, dance and prayers.The Mah Meri are well known for their art of leaf origami from palm leaf. The leaf origami is an integral part of their beliefs, culture and custom. The Mah Meri are well known for their art of leaf origami, intricate wood carvings, sculptures and mask making of spirit-animals. They are numbered around 4200 in 2010.
