Lava Jatra Festival

Nepalese women from Newar community in traditional attire plays traditional instument as they walk to the temple during the Lava Jatra at Hadigaun in Kathmandu, Nepal, April 7, 2015. Lava Jatra is celebrated every year during the Hadigaun Jatra by the locals of Hadigaun an ancient village in Kathmandu Valley. During the week long festival people worship Goddess Bhatbhateni and Tunal Devi. Worshipers have wishes to be fulfilled by the goddess. In this festival‚ women and girls of the town fast for a day believing that will ensure their family prosperity and unmarried girls will get good husbands.
