Yemeni Internally Displaced People
Yemeni Internally displaced children who fled their homes due to the ongoing war are seen at a temporary displaced camp north Sana'a, Yemen on November 26, 2019. The conflict in the Arab world’s poorest nation began with the 2014 takeover of northern and central Yemen by Iran-aligned rebels known as Houthis, driving out the internationally recognized government from the capital, Sanaa. Months later, in March 2015, a Saudi-led coalition launched its air military campaign. The war has killed more than 10,000 people, and over three million people have been forced to flee their homes, as well as 24 million people – 80 percent of Yemen’s 28 million population require humanitarian assistance, the greatest number in any country in the world.
