Bulgaria Submarine
Tug boats support the latest and out of service Bulgarian submarine Slava (Glory) during an unique special marine transport operation in the Black sea. Slava submarine was manufactured in 1960 in the former USSR. It is 76 meters long, 7 meters wide and 6 meters high. It can dive up to 300 meters below water surface and travel at a maximum speed of 15.3 knots, it can carry 8 torpedos and operate range to North America. The submarine was never caught on the sonars of NATO ships during join exercises. After 1989 when the political situation in Bulgaria changed, the Bulgarian submarines started to hold exercises together with the Turkish naval forces. After the start of the new millennium the number of military exercises with submarines in Bulgaria decreased. The last navigation of Slava submarine was in December 2010. The date November 1, 2011 marked the end of Bulgaria's underwater navigation when Slava submarine was officially taken out of the Bulgarian naval fleet.
