Epiphany Celebration In Bulgaria

Bulgarians celebrate Epiphany as men jump in the frosty waters of Black sea at the so called ceremony 'Taking the cross out of the sea' on 6 January 2020 in Varna, Bulgaria. As a tradition, an Eastern Orthodox priest throws a cross in the river and it is believed that the one who retrieves it will be healthy through the year as well as all those who dance in the icy water.
