Hundreds of protesters along with women rights activists, transgenders and members of the LGBTQ community walked till Jantar Mantar from Mandi House to launch their protest against the government's Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in New Delhi on January 03, 2020. The Citizenship Amendment Act has triggered nationwide protests as it paved way for six minority communities Hindus, Sikhs, Jain, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and Christians who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan to escape religious persecution before December 31, 2014 to get Indian citizenship.
