Parliament Resumes After Winter Recess, Brexit Returns To Center Stage

MPs returned to Westminster today following the winter recess, with the government's Brexit bill topping the agenda and expected to clear the Commons (where the Conservative Party now holds an 80-seat majority) on Thursday. The so called Withdrawal Agreement Bill will then pass to the House of Lords for consideration there. The UK is set to leave the EU at 11pm on January 31, beginning a transition period running until the end of the year, in which time Prime Minister Boris Johnson has committed to concluding a post-Brexit trade deal with Brussels.
