Amassada' People Protest

People prepares 'aligot', a typical dish from Aveyron department. People participating to the Amassada organized a picnic and a play near the regional headquarters of RTE (Electricity Transmission Network) to protest against their expulsion from the Amassada. RTE has begun to build a 400.000 volts transformer on 6 to 9ha of cultivated land. Since four years, people from the Amassada fight against this construction for the 'electric highway Marocco-Sweden' on the territory of Saint-Victor-et-Melvieu in Aveyron, south-west of France. They call this ZAD (Zone to Defend) the 'Amassada' (which means Assembly in occitan). Toulouse. France. January 18th 2020. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
