Shutdown In Srinagar On Afzal Guru's Hanging Anniversary

A biker moves past closed market during a shutdown in Srinagar on the hanging anniversary of Afzal Guru on February 09, 2020.Guru was secretly hanged and buried at the Tihar jail in India's capital New Delhi on February 09, 2013 for his alleged role in the 2001 Indian parliament attack which left 14 people dead. Shops and business establishments remain closed in Srinagar following the shutdown call by separatist organization whose leadership is placed under house arrest by Indian government after the revocation of Article 370 of Indian constitution which granted Kashmir autonomy. The police have registered a case against the banned separatist organization for issuing a strike call and police also called two journalists for questioning who carried the news about the separatist statement.
