Fat Thursday in Poland
Preparation of Polish doughnuts at Krakow's 'Stara Piekarnia' bakery on Fat Thursday. Every February, Poland and Poles 'go nuts' for doughnuts on Fat Thursday, the last Thursday prior to Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. In the USA and Canada the 'Pączki Day' is celebrated in cities with a sizeable Polish diaspora, like Chicago, Michigan, Detroit, but the sweets treats are eaten on Shrove Tuesday (or Fat Tuesday) rather than on Fat Thursday like in the old continent. On Thursday, February 20, 2020, in Krakow, Poland. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto)
