The traditional Labor Day concert in Rome's central Piazza San Giovanni on Friday, 1st May 2015 started with a minute of silence to commemorate victims of an earthquake in Nepal and shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. Television host c, the conductor of the May Day event, called for the minute of silence "for the two emergencies of the moment - the populations of Nepal hit by the earthquake and the victims in the Mediterranean".
