Snow-covered Mount Olympus as seen from Thessaloniki city in Greece after the rare weather and the April snowfall, the mountain is behind the sea, Thermaikos gulf. Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece with an altitude of the highest peak, Mytikas at 2918m. Mt. Olympus was the home of the Greek gods according to ancient Greek Mythology. Today the mountain is noted for the rich biodiversity, rich flora and is a National Park, the first in Greece since 1938. The mountain is a popular summer and winter destination for hiking, trekking, climbing but also for tourists as there are rich forests, gorges, rivers and also many monasteries.
