COVID-19 Brazil: Empty Easter Mass
In the biggest catholic country in the world, a Franciscan Catholic friars celebrate the Good Friday Mass without the presence of the faithful in the Church of Sao Francisco, in downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil, due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus, on April 10, 2020. The temple, one of the oldest in Sao Paulo, broadcasted one of the main celebrations of the Catholic calendar via the Internet, after distributing food and hygiene items, something they have been doing since the beginning of the quarantine, on March 24th. Brazil's catholic popuation is around 135 million people, and a friar from the community, which has 15 friars who live in the historic convent of San Francisco, is hospitalized, diagnosed with Covid-19 (Photo by Gustavo Basso/NurPhoto)
