Despite the dawn of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Sri Lankans have withdrawn from celebrations as Sri Lanka Police stated that celebrations for New Year have been prohibited during curfew hours as curfew is imposed to restrict people’s movements in an effort to contain spread of COVID-19.
