Canceled All Flights To And From UK In Bulgaria

In line with the National Operational Headquarters’ measures for the prevention of COVID-19 in Bulgaria, effective today, the Civil Aviation Administration of Bulgaria canceled all flights to-from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland until the end of the declared State of Emergency in the country. For the last couple of weeks, Fraport’s Airport in Varna, Bulgaria only operated scheduled domestic passenger flights. The first international flight was supposed to depart from Varna Airport at 10:30am on April 16, 2020 – destination London Luton. One of the reasons for the renewal of flights was to transport Bulgarian workers to England – most of them were about to commence work in the area of Agriculture. However, the National Operational Headquarters decided the risk of renewing flights as too big, fearing people coming back from England, one of the hottest points of COVID-19 prevalence, many times exceeding that of Bulgaria, Varna, Bulgaria on April 16, 2020 (Photo by Hristo Rusev/NurPhoto)
