Tripoli, Lebanon: Fighters Of Bab al Tebbaneh

.Syria Street is in the heart of the fighting in Tripoli, the street sits at the base of Jabal Mohsen where Alawite militias loyal to SyriaÕs President Bashar Assad supported by Hezbollah battle with the Sunni supporters of the Syrian opposition at the base of the hill in Bab al Tabbaneh. The battles in this area have been going on for over 20 years and the death toll caused from a spillover from the Syrian civil war is over 400 dead and thousands wounded and dozens of Lebanese army personnel killed during fighting. Both sides are heavily armed with RPGs and mortars. In one night alone over 1,000 mortars were exchanged in clashes. The Lebanese army has retuned repeatedly to try and stabilize the warring neighborhoods with armored vehicles and heavy weaponry patrolling Tripoli around the clock.
