Anti-government Protest In Warsaw
A demonstrator wearing a protective face mask and a heart shaped headwear takes part in an anti-government protest on June 20, 2020 in Warsaw, Poland. Several hundreds of demonstrators took the streets in a peaceful protest against the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) bringing together different opposition groups. Amongst them the Democracy Defence Committee (Komitet Obrony Demokracji), All-Poland Women Strike (Ogolnopolski Strajk Kobiet), Students Antifascists Committee (Studentski Komitet Antyfaszystowski), All-Poland Civic Strike (Ogolnopolski Strajk Obywatelski) and the Union Alternative (Zwiazkowa Alternatywa). A week ahead of the presidential elections that will take place on June 28, 2020 the protesters marched from the Constitution Square to the presidential palace in order to show their malcontent and anger towards the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS), criticising the last years of its misconduct, targeting minorities like the LGBT community, undermining the rule of law, taking under control the public broadcaster TVP and implementing an almost total ban on abortion.
