Coronavirus Emergency in Portugal
Lisbon restaurants avoid crowds to comply with new Portuguese government measure, 23 June 2020. In order to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 growing again, Portugal has taken a step backwards in the return of its activities: in Lisbon, the limit of people meeting has been reduced again at 10. In addition, shops, cafes and bars will have to close at 20:00 in the whole metropolitan area of the Portuguese capital. According to the Prime Minister, António Costa, the aim of the measure, which became valid on Tuesday 22 June, is to stop crowds of people who put public health at risk. In the last month, the country registered 9,221 new cases of the disease, most of them in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley. (Photo by Jorge Mantilla/NurPhoto)
