Flash Floods In Central Sulawesi

Farmers witnessed their garden land being eroded by abrased river water in Pombewe Village, Sigi Regency, about 10 kilometers from Palu City, the capital of Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia on July 14, 2020. The river's abrasion has worsened during high rainfall intensity and has now washed away tens of hectares community gardens located on the banks of the river. Farmers worry that if the rain continues, the livelihood will also disappear. Farmers have asked the local government to help make a dike to hold the current, but there is no assistance. They then worked together to straighten the flow of river water with simple equipment. (Photo by Basri Marzuki/NurPhoto)
