Eight hundred hectares of mountain gone up in smoke in L’Aquila, Italy, on 3 August, 2020, fire 200 meters from the town. Eight hundred hectares of mountain gone up in smoke in L’Aquila, Italy, on 3 August 2020, fire 200 meters from the town. An overall front about 4 km long, made up of isolated outbreaks that do not allow for homogeneous intervention and active fire fighting. The strategy is to isolate the individual outbreaks with firebreak lines, horizontally downstream and vertically from the top of the mountain. There are 50 men including firefighters, civil defence, chainsaw volunteers and army men with a pathfinder. There are also 10 fire-fighting modules with hoses. In the meantime, the water and liquid-retardant airborne vehicles continue to be launched. Canadair and helicopters, flying from the first light of the morning, refuel in Lake Campotosto.
