Virus Outbreak Venezuela
A member of the militia guards the entrance of the hotel that became a hospital for COVID-19 positive people those who do not require hospitalization during week 21 of radical quarantine on August 5, 2020 in Caracas, Venezuela. To manage hospital occupancy rates, the Venezuelan government has 4,000 hotel rooms across the country to house and isolate COVID-19 patients with no or mild symptoms. The Milenio hotel, in the Chaguaramas area, has 60 rooms and now houses 61 patients. They are accommodated in single or double rooms with air conditioning, cable TV and internet service. Patients undergo tests every two to three days and receive doses of chloroquine and azithromycin. There is international concern about the real capacity of the Nicolas Maduro government to control the pandemic due to the health, social and economic crisis that the country is going through (Photo by Ramses Mattey/NurPhoto)
