Daily life at Monastiraki Square in Athens, Greece, on August 25, 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic era with a few locals and tourists seen wearing facemasks, an obligatory safety measure for public transportation. Usually, Monastiraki is overcrowded with tourists from all over the world as it is a flea market neighborhood in the old town of Athens, Greece, and is one of the principal shopping districts in Athens. The area is home to clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, and specialty stores, and is a major tourist attraction in Athens, Greece, on August 25, 2020 and Attica for bargain shopping but also for the traditional style or modern with a view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon bars and restaurants. The area is named after Monastiraki Square, which in turn is named for the Church of the Pantanassa that is located within the square. Greek economy is suffering from the reduced number of arriving tourists as the tourism industry is one of the main income sectors for the country's economy but Greece is focused to keep low numbers of Coronavirus cases with local lockdown and new additional safety measures announcent every day.
