The gates of the La Aurora International Airport were closed for six months on September 10, 2020 due to the closure of international flights. Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei notified the departure of flights on September 18, six months after the COVID-19 pandemic stopped, authorities assure that the operation will be carried out under strict protocols and at the moment the initial flights were not informed.
