Anti-Government Protesters Rally In Bangkok
Anti-government protestors rally at Sanam Luang on September 19, 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. An estimated 70,000 people gathered in Bangkok's Sanam Luang field next to the historic Grand Palace to listen to prodemocracy speakers and protest the government of Prime Minister Prayut Chan Ocha. The prodemocracy movement has been ongoing for 2 months, drawing large numbers of people onto the streets of Bangkok, the likes of which have not been seen since the 2013-2014 political crisis and coup. The rally started at Bangkok's Thammasat University Tha Phra Chan campus, moving to the adjacent Sanam Luang field once their numbers became large enough to make the police stationed there unable to hold back their movement.
