United Kingdom's Trade Union Congress
A person passing the outside of a branch Bridgefords in Stockport on Wednesday 27th May 2015. -- The United Kingdom's Trade Union Congress criticised the Conservative government's policy of 'right to buy' due to the already existing pressure on the construction of UK housing. In a statement the General Secretary of the TUC, Frances O'Grady, has said; "The TUC is deeply concerned that this measure will undermine housing associations and their important role in providing families with affordable homes." The Conservative government has introduced the 'right to buy' policy so residents of social housing can buy the house they currently rent of their local council or housing association, across the UK. The new Right to Buy policy was announced, as a new policy, in the 2015 Queen's Speech, the first of the 2015-2020 Conservative government. (Photo by Jonathan Nicholson/NurPhoto)
