Tribute in Nantes In Memory Of Teacher Murdered In Paris Suburb

People gathered in Nantes, France, on October 18, 2020 to pay homage to Samuel Paty, history teacher at the College du Bois d'Aulne in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, beheaded on 16 October 2020 by an Islamist of Chechen origin who reproached him for having shown caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed published by Charlie Hebdo to his pupils during a course on freedom of expression and the right to blasphemy. Beyond the tribute paid to the victim of this attack, this gathering initiated by trade unions whose Snes-FSU aimed to support the teaching profession, freedom of expression and to reaffirm the rejection of obscurantism.
