The Giant Kite Festival In Guatemala

The Sulan family prays to the Virgin at their home in Sumpango Sacatepequez, 60 kilometers west of Guatemala City on Thursday, October 22, 2020. The Sulan brothers make giant kites for the festival on November 1st to celebrate the day of the dead. The Ministry of Health recommends continuing to comply with prevention measures to avoid the further spread of the new coronavirus. The festival will be held virtually and with 50% of the visitors present. 35 Guatemalan families are participating in the elaboration of kites with Chinese paper of various colors, which measure 3 meters. The spiritual objective of raising them to honor the dead and the living, this year the theme was the pandemic that affects the world.
