Previously, the number of poor people in Indonesia had increased from 24.79 million in September 2019 to 26.42 million in March 2020 due to the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poverty rate increased from 9.22 percent to 9.78 percent in 2020, slightly below the poverty rate in March 2018 which reached 9.82 percent with a total number of poor people of 25.95 million.
