Drones And Helicopters To Monitor Lock Down Areas In Colombo, Sri Lanka
A helicopter operated by Sri Lankan Air Force flies above the areas placed under lock down (due to outbreak of Covid-19) to monitor the quarantine regulation violators at Colombo, Sri Lanka. 12 Thursday 2020. Sri Lanka Police said 15 people were arrested on Thursday (12) for violating quarantine regulations after drones were used to monitor the lock-down areas in Mutuwal in the capital Colombo. Sri Lankan Police Spokesperson, Ajith Rohana further added on Thursday (12) that drone footage will be used to observe whether people are acting in adherence to quarantine regulations in the lock-down areas and high-tech drones will be deployed covering the isolated areas in the high-risk zones of Colombo-North, Central-Colombo, and Gampaha areas in Sri Lanka to monitor whether people are acting in compliance of restriction on the movement. Sri Lankan Army launched it's latest regiment, the Drone Regiment on Thursday (12) Commander of the Sri Lankan Army Shavendra Silva said the new done regiment will be tasked with ground surveillance to observe any potential disasters that may occur in the Island and also for security purposes.
